Biography

Francisco is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI) in Santiago, Chile. At UAI, Francisco conducts research at the intersection of Energy and Environmental Market Design, Energy Economics, Industrial Organization, and Mathematical Programming. He is also an Associate Researcher at the Solar Energy Research Center (SERC), an Associate Researcher at the Advanced Center for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (AC3E), and an Invited Researcher at the Complex Engineering Systems Institute (ISCI). Francisco has also been a consultant for government agencies, private firms, and international organizations in various matters, including energy economics, market design, utility regulation, transmission planning, decision analysis, litigation, and business strategy. He has a Ph.D. focused in Energy Economics and Operations Research from The Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Chile. Prior to joining UAI, Francisco was a Postdoctoral Appointee in the Department of Discrete Math and Optimization at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
